There exists today a profound void—one that was once filled with the vibrant energy, joy, enthusiasm, and charisma that so distinctly characterized John Ojeisekhoba, Sr. On Sunday evening, we lost a man who meant so much to so many: a devoted husband, loving father, cherished brother, loyal friend, and inspiring mentor.
John served with distinction – and style – as the 65th President of the International Association of Campus Law Enforcement Administrators (IACLEA), assuming office in June 2022. His presidency was marked by visionary leadership and a relentless drive to elevate the Association. He spearheaded numerous initiatives that advanced IACLEA’s mission in areas such as accreditation, international engagement, strategic partnerships with federal agencies, and the enhancement of member programs.
Even after the conclusion of his presidential term, John remained an active and engaged member of the Board of Directors. He continued to support his successors with unwavering enthusiasm, offering guidance, encouragement, and mentorship. No task was ever too great or too small for John—his commitment knew no bounds.

John’s dedication extended far beyond IACLEA. Biola University was his second home, where his journey began as a student in 1996. He joined the campus safety team in 2000, earned his master’s degree in 2004, and rose through the ranks to become Chief of Campus Safety in 2009. In 2019, he was appointed Associate Vice President & Chief of Campus Safety. Throughout his tenure, John touched countless lives with his steadfast devotion to campus safety and his infectious spirit. Whether serving Thanksgiving dinner, dancing with the Biola mascot, or welcoming students back with a spirited rendition of the “Welcome Back Kotter” theme song, John brought joy and warmth to every corner of the community.
His exemplary service earned him numerous accolades, including the prestigious President’s Award from IACLEA, “Campus Safety Director of the Year” by Campus Safety Magazine, the Community Spotlight Award from the City of La Mirada, CA, and recognition as Law Enforcement Officer of the Year by the Veterans of Foreign Wars. He was also appointed by former Secretary of Homeland Security Alejandro Mayorkas to serve on the Homeland Security Academic Partnership Council.
John’s leadership and wisdom were instrumental in educating and empowering colleagues across the country. Whether through one-on-one mentorship or his exceptional teaching and consulting work with IACLEA and other organizations, his impact was far-reaching. He also served as an adjunct professor at Biola University, teaching self-defense, and was a reserve police officer with the Garden Grove Police Department.
Above all, John’s greatest passion and priority was his family. He is survived by his beloved wife of 25 years, Heidi, their five remarkable children, and his extended family.
At the conclusion of his term as President in 2023, John delivered a heartfelt and memorable address to summarize the year. He closed with, “As President, I gave it my all.” All who knew John will agree – in life, he gave it his all as well.
Farewell, Mr. President, Johnny O, Chief O, Mr. GQ. You are missed.
