IACLEA’s Government Relations engages with federal executive branch agencies, Congress, and national associations to promote the interests of campus public safety executives and their agencies on behalf of the IACLEA membership.

The goal of the Association’s Government Relations is to build and foster strong and lasting relationships with relevant federal agencies and Congress in order to advance the campus public safety profession and promote policies to enhance its ability to protect our higher educational critical infrastructure, research facilities, students, faculty, staff, and visitors.

What We Do

  • Identify and monitor key public policy issues and legislation that impact public safety at institutions of higher education.
  • Raise IACLEA’s visibility and authority on matters of public safety policy and legislation that directly impact institutions of higher education by working with members of Congress as well as state, provincial, and local governments.
  • Represent the Association’s views and priorities to federal agencies and Congress and implement strategies to engage the Association’s members in policy development.
  • Provide the appropriate tools to enable and encourage members to advocate on behalf of the Association.
  • Build relationships and partnerships with federal officials and campus public safety and higher education organizations to advance Association initiatives.
  • Connect federal agencies with IACLEA members and other campus public safety experts on special projects or high-level campus public safety matters.
  • IACLEA’s Government Relations Committee drives the Association’s legislative and policy work.
