Crisis Negotiations on Campus: Building Communication for Safer Outcomes

This course prepares public safety professionals and campus responders to effectively manage high-stakes crisis situations through skilled negotiation and communication. Participants will explore strategies to de-escalate conflicts, build rapport, and influence behavior in emergencies such as active threats, hostage incidents, or emotional crises. The course emphasizes psychological principles, active listening, and tactical communication techniques that promote safety for all involved. Learners will develop the skills to coordinate with response teams, make informed decisions under pressure, and achieve safer outcomes for students, staff, and the campus community.
