Ready for Launch: Building, Governing and Funding a Campus Drone Program
October 20 @ 12:00 pm – 2:00 pm EDT
Building on the first webinar in IACLEA’s campus drone series, this two-hour session focuses on the practical steps required to turn drone technology into a sustainable public safety capability. Through an expert-led discussion, participants will explore how colleges and universities can build, govern, fund, and operationalize drone programs that support emergency response, major events, missing-person searches, disaster response, and other campus safety missions.
Panelists will share real-world insights on policy development, governance, training, deployment protocols, funding opportunities, and stakeholder engagement. Attendees will gain a deeper understanding of how to move from concept to implementation while addressing regulatory, privacy, and public trust considerations.
You will learn to:
- Evaluate and prioritize campus drone use cases.
- Establish policies, governance, and training standards.
- Integrate drones into campus safety and emergency response operations.
- Address FAA, legal, privacy, and ethical considerations.
- Secure funding through grants and institutional investment.
- Build stakeholder buy-in across the institution.
