Mass Demonstrations on Campus

This course equips public safety officers with the knowledge and skills necessary to effectively manage mass demonstrations on college and university campuses. Through a combination of legal education, de-escalation techniques, crowd management strategies, and crisis response training, officers will learn how to uphold constitutional rights while ensuring public safety. Participants will explore historical case studies, university policies, and best practices for planning, communication, and coordination with stakeholders. By the end of the course, officers will be able to assess risks, engage effectively with demonstrators, apply de-escalation strategies, and manage public order incidents in a professional, lawful, and ethical manner.
